Maternity, Labor & Birth, Newborn

Maternity Photography: We're only pregnant for such a short time, compared to the lifetime we'll spend with our children. That fleeting moment that we're pregnant is so precious, and once the baby arrives, it's hard to remember what it was like to still have that wonderful belly. I wish I could see some pictures of my Mom when she was pregnant with me. I think it's so important to have at least one photo to share with your child when he or she is grown.

Labor & Birth Photography: Most people are not interested or rather put off at the mention of birth photography, but it is not what you think or see, or hear about anymore. I keep my photos discreet, and classy, I am not there to photograph the medical part of birth but rather the lifestyle part of it, the emotions and anticipation and happiness. I am not there to invade your privacy or to make you feel uncomfortable. Please take note that you will have total control over the pictures that are taken and I honor any and all photo requests that are made. During the process of labor, where you walk around and family comes in to say hi I will photograph you and your family from all angles. However during your active labor and birth I station myself behind the shoulder of the mother during labor. This ensures a prime spot to capture the baby’s first cries and the expressions of those awaiting his or her arrival. From there, I become engrossed with following that baby wherever it may go.

Having a birth photographer there to document everything allows the mother to relive the experience through the photographs and often times have a totally different perspective on what happened that day. Looking back on these photos you will not regret having them taken!

"Just Born" Hospital Newborn Photography: “Just Born” lifestyle sessions are held within the first 48 hours of your child’s birth – during daylight hours – at the hospital, birth center, or at home. They are similar in style to birth photography – unposed and natural. Less formal.  My goal is to capture you and your baby in the first precious moments (meeting siblings or other family members, first bath, breastfeeding etc.) while emotions are still high and everything is brand new.

Studio Newborn Photography: The In-home studio is located near Lincoln ND. It has all the proper props, and lighting and equiptment used in newborn photography. This type of photography is very posed and formal and neat. These sessions take up to 2-3 hours depending on baby. I like to keep baby as comfortable and warm as possible. You are more than welcome to bring your own photo props such as hats, outfits, or blankets to use. Newborn photography is best if taken before baby is 10 days old. They sleep the best and are still very flexible and curled up in this time period.
